Fort Wayne Airport Considers Options

New survey results suggest business travelers at Fort Wayne International Airport want additional East Coast destinations. The study is a collaboration between the airport authority and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership and identifies New York City and Washington D.C. among the most-desired locations. A $600,000 federal grant helped fund the survey and is part of an overall authority initiative to seek more destinations.

Berry Plastics to Streamline Operations

The chief executive officer of Evansville-based Berry Plastics Group Inc. (NYSE: BERY) says the company plans to close five plants throughout the U.S. During a conference call to investors last week, Jon Rich said the moves will affect around 200 employees.

Commission Approves Agreement With New Hockey Team

The Indiana State Fair Commission has confirmed plans for another hockey team in Indianapolis. Indiana Hockey Club LLC has reached a five-year deal to locate a minor league team at the renovated coliseum at the Fairgrounds. KAR Auction Services Inc. (NYSE: KAR) Chief Executive Officer Jim Hallett is chairman of the team and says the club will compete in the ECHL next season.

Madison-based River Valley Bancorp (Nasdaq: RIVR) has completed the acquisition of a former branch of Old National Bancorp (Nasdaq: ONB). The Osgood location expands the bank's footprint to more than a dozen communities in the state.

Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis has announced a $215 million military contract to produce LiftSystems. The technology allows F-35 and F-35B aircraft to perform short take-offs and vertical landings. The systems are used by the U.S. Marine Corps.

The LaGrange County Economic Development Corp. is touting an increase in county per capita income. The organization says the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis shows a more than 9.5 percent jump in 2012, compared to 2011.

Indiana Wesleyan University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Houghton College in New York. IWU President David Wright says the Marion-based school will provide expertise in adult and online education. The institutions are planning to finalize the partnership before the end of the year.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has been awarded a Charles E. Schell Foundation for Education grant. The $100,000 will help fund a legacy loan program. College Director of Financial Aid Darla Hopper says the initiative is part of efforts to make higher education attainable.
